Kateryna Yushchenko is one of the first cybernetics scientists in the world. She founded the Address Programming Language while working in Kyiv, and was one step ahead of the Americans with her inventions. Despite the fact that the USSR was in no hurry to implement Yushchenko's practical work, the scientist still worked and supported her colleagues.
Hromadske journalists found Kateryna Yushchenko's daughter, as well as the daughter of Viktor Hlushkov, founder of the Institute of Cybernetics in Kyiv.
"Women Code Too" is the latest in Hromadske's English-language series "Beyond East and West" in partnership with LSE Arena, a programme based at the Institute of Global Affairs, London School of Economics and Political Science.
"Beyond East and West" is a research project exploring Ukrainians’ connection to and understanding of their nation’s history. As part of this project we are producing a series of videos on history and analysing the response of audiences across Ukraine.
