“Honestly, it’s hard for me to be here,” says Kateryna Hanas, a schoolteacher who now serves as a radio operator in the army.

Orysia Kit, a former birth attendant at Lviv maternity clinic, now serves as a medical instructor in the army.
“It’s enough to just smile or say something, and guys appear near you,” says Kit.

Women in the army often play the role of the psychologist.
