"Values That Ukrainians Fought for Turn to Dust" – Oleg Sentsov on Prisoner Exchange

The prisoner exchange in the Donbas which is going to include the five ex-Berkut officers that are accused of killing dozens of people on Instytutska Street on February 20, 2014, deprives Ukrainians of the main thing that is justice, filmmaker and former political prisoner Oleg Sentsov believes.

"Some people will remain in the hands of militants. The Crimean Tatars and our other political prisoners will continue to be imprisoned in Russian prisons. Innocent. For this, Ukraine will deliver true murderers: Russian mercenaries, Kharkiv terrorists and five Berkut officers," Sentsov wrote in his Facebook post.

While stating that he's very happy that some imprisoned Ukrainians will meet their families today, Sentsov argued that the country should not return its heroes at the cost of desecrating the values for which these heroes fought.

"Because they will not say 'thank you'  for the fact that the case of the shooting of people on the Maidan was not completed even with a verdict to the guilty. That almost six years later, we began to return to the point  where it all began. That what the Ukrainians fought for is turning to dust," Sentsov wrote.
