Kyiv-born British filmmaker Elena Andreicheva has won an Oscar for Best Documentary (short subject) for the film "Learning to Skateboard in a Warzone (If You're a Girl)."
Andreicheva who lives in the U.K. has won the award along with American director Carol Dysinger.
The film tells a story of a class of young girls from disadvantages neighborhoods who live in war-torn Afghanistan.
Dysinger referred to the film as the "love letter" to the girls of Afghanistan.
This is the first Oscar award for both women.
