Ukrainian Armed Forces enter Lyman, dozens of dead civilians found in Kharkiv Oblast: last night's highlights

Ukrainian troops entered Lyman, Donetsk Oblast, and liberated several settlements near it, while in Kharkiv Oblast they found a shelled convoy of civilian cars, finding more than 20 dead. Here is what you may have missed from the previous night.

Ukrainian Armed Forces' successes near Lyman

The spokesman for the eastern grouping of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Serhiy Cherevatyi, confirmed that Ukrainian troops had entered the city of Lyman, Donetsk Oblast. Before that, representatives of the President's Office published a video of the military unfurling the national flag of Ukraine near the sign in the city.

Currently, there are still battles in Lyman, although the military confirmed that the occupiers surrendered to the Ukrainian defenders. It is known that the Ukrainian military surrounded about 5,000 enemy troops near the city. The Russian Defense Ministry also admitted that the Ukrainian military are advancing in the city. They stated that "due to the threat of encirclement" they withdrew their troops from the settlement "to more favorable positions".

Before that, the Ukrainian Armed Forces liberated five settlements near Lyman: Yampil, Novoselivka, Shandryholove, Drobysheve and Stavky. Stabilization measures continue there.

Civilian convoy shelled in Kharkiv Oblast

In the Kupyansk district of Kharkiv Oblast, a destroyed convoy of cars with civilians was found. According to the SBU, a civilian convoy of cars was shot in the so-called gray zone between the occupied Svatove, Luhansk Oblast, and the liberated Kupyansk, Kharkiv Oblast, in late September.

The prosecutor's office reports at least 22 dead, including 10 children. According to the investigation, the attack on civilians was carried out by a sabotage and reconnaissance group of the occupiers — civilian cars were shot at close range with small arms.

Consequences of the shelling of Mykolaiv

During the night of October 1, Mykolaiv was shelled twice. After midnight, the occupiers struck with Shahed-136 kamikaze drones, and then fired missiles from the S-300 system at the city. There are numerous destructions of residential buildings. One of the rockets hit a residential five-story building in the city center: apartments on the 4th and 5th floors were completely destroyed.

As a result of the shelling one person was killed, five more were wounded, including a three-month-old baby. He and his mother are being provided medical assistance. The condition of all the wounded is stable.

News from the frontline

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled the enemy's attacks in the areas of Kozacha Lopan, Bakhmut, Vesela Dolyna, Zaitseve, and Pervomaiske. As a result of the Ukrainian Armed Forces strike on an object near Zolote in Luhansk Oblast, Russia lost about 60 people in killed and wounded, as well as four units of equipment.

In total, since the beginning of the day, the rocket forces and artillery of the Ukrainian Armed Forces have hit four command posts, four clusters of manpower, weapons and military equipment. Also two ammunition depots were hit.

Reaction to the kidnapping of the head of ZNPP

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine called on the international community, in particular the UN, the IAEA and the G7 to take decisive measures to release the Director General of Zaporizhzhya NPP Ihor Murashov, who was kidnapped by the Russian occupiers. The IAEA noted that they are now looking for information about Murashov, contacted the Russian authorities and asked for clarification.

The invaders kidnapped the General Director of Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant Ihor Murashov on September 30 on the way from the NPP to the city of Enerhodar. Russians stopped his car, forcibly detained and took the man in an unknown direction. Currently, there is no information about his whereabouts and further fate.

Losses of the occupying troops

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Ukrainian military killed about 530 Russian soldiers on September 30. And since the beginning of the full-scale war, Russia has lost 59,610 of its troops.

Also, over the last day of September, the Russians lost 16 tanks, 17 armored combat vehicles, six artillery systems, six drones, and other equipment.
