Ukraine's successes in the south, help from Germany, death of a child in Mykolaiv Oblast: last night's highlights

The Armed Forces of Ukraine in the south destroyed almost 140 Russians, their tanks and one Uragan system; Germany promises to allocate 200 million euros to help refugees in Ukraine; the occupiers shelled a village in Mykolayiv Oblast, killing one child and injuring others. Here is what you may have missed from the previous night.

Destruction of Russian troops and equipment

On September 3, on the southern front, the aviation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine carried out 24 strikes on strongholds, areas of concentration of manpower and equipment, command posts and transport routes of Russian troops. During the day, the Armed Forces destroyed 138 Russians and their equipment, says Operational Command "South".

They added that in the south of the country, the Russian occupying forces lost:

  • 9 tanks;
  • howitzer "Msta-B";
  • Uragan multiple launch rocket system;
  • S-300 launcher;
  • 152 caliber howitzer gun;
  • 18 armored vehicles.

Also, the Ukrainian military destroyed an ammunition depot in the Bashtanka district of Mykolaiv Oblast and hit a ferry crossing near Beryslav in Kherson  Oblast.

Child killed in Mykolaiv Oblast

An 8-year-old boy was killed, three more children and two adults were wounded as a result of Russian shelling of the village of Vysunsk in Mykolaiv Oblast — the prosecutor's office has started proceedings.

According to the investigation, the village was shelled from rocket launchers with prohibited cluster munitions. There are no military facilities in this area.

Help from Germany

Germany promises to provide Ukraine with an additional 200 million euros to finance aid programs for internally displaced persons. This was announced by the Minister of Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany, Svenja Schulze.

According to her, the money will be earmarked to help displaced people in Ukraine continue to be able to provide themselves with the necessities.

Zelenskyy's address

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reacted to the explosion that occurred on September 3 at an ammunition exhibition in Chernihiv, as a result of which children were injured. He emphasized that all those responsible will be brought to justice.

"Unfortunately, today we have an absolutely unacceptable event in the city of Chernihiv. During the day, an explosion rang out at a public event in the city center, and a grenade launcher went off. Children are among the victims. The little boy is now in critical condition in intensive care," the president said.

Shelling of Sumy Oblast

On September 3, Russian troops once again shelled the communities of Sumy Oblast in northern Ukraine. During the day there were almost 70 mortars and self-propelled artillery attacks, regional governor Dmytro Zhyvytskyy reported.

There were two mortar attacks on the Bilopolska community — a total of 17 hits. In the evening, Russians opened fire on the Krasnopillia community three times.  Almost 50 strikes of self-propelled guns and mortars were recorded there. There were no victims as a result of the shelling.
