Ukraine flag installed on Snake Island, military operation completed — Operational Command "South"

The military operation on the Snake Island in the Black Sea, from where the Russian occupation troops were driven out the other day, has been completed. The Ukrainian flag was installed there, stated Nataliya Humenyuk, spokeswoman for the press center of the Operational Command "South" at a briefing on July 4.

"The flag of Ukraine has been installed on Snake Island. The military operation has been completed, and the territory has been returned to the jurisdiction of Ukraine," she said.

Humenyuk added that Ukrainian troops are advancing "slowly but surely" in the rest of southern Ukraine.

"First we vacate the territory, entrench ourselves there, and only then announce it. On land, the enemy has no success in advancing, so it is currently using the tactics of air and missile strikes," the spokeswoman said.

She also noted that currently in the Black Sea, Russian ships have 28 Kalibr missiles at the ready.

De-occupation of Snake Island

On June 30, it was reported that the Ukrainian military forced the occupiers to completely leave the Snake Island in the Black Sea. The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation confirmed the flight, although they called it a "step of goodwill."

The OC "South" said that the Russians, retreating from the island, destroyed their military equipment, documentation and property. In this, they were also "helped" by missile and artillery strikes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The Ukrainian army announced that they plan to go to the island to establish direct physical control there.
