Crimean Tatars under the direction of their highest executive-representative body, the Majilis, have begun blockading shipments of food and other goods to Crimea.

There are also some Ukrainian volunteer battalions fighters present there together with the National Guard of Ukraine soldiers to ensure safety of this campaign.

Crimean Tatars demand to eliminate free trade zone on the temporary border between Ukraine and the peninsula, instead they propose to create food bases in Kherson Oblast near Crimea for Crimeans to buy goods on Ukrainian territory.

The annexation of Crimea has been widely condemned by the international community.
