State Ceremony Marks Return of Ukrainian PS752 Victims to Ukraine

On January 19, the bodies of 11 Ukrainians who died in an aviation catastrophe in Iran were returned to Ukraine. The ceremony was formal, and saw the bodies of the fallen victims offloaded from a plane and onto waiting hearses, while a military band played a sorrowful hymn in the background.

The ceremony was attended by most of the top members of the Ukrainian government, including Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy and prime minister Oleksiy Honcharuk.

Staff from Ukrainian International Airlines, which operated flight PS752, were also present, with many of those present visibly emotional at the return of their colleagues – 9 of the 11 slain Ukrainians, out of 176 total, were crew employed by UIA.

A farewell ceremony was also held in at the Boryspil airport in Kyiv, attended by family, friends, colleagues, and well-wishers for the slain Ukrainians.
