East Ukraine: 5 Electricians & 1 Soldier Wounded in Massive Power Station Fire
4 December, 2014

A Luhansk power station came under mortar attack. The attack came from Vesela Hora which is controlled by the LNR terrorists. The Luhansk front line is just behind the power station. Eleven transformers caught fire and attempted repairs failed. However, while fire fighters tried to extinguish the fire - there was no light in several cities in Luhansk including Sievierodonetsk, Lysynchansk and Bilokurakyne. The power station’s work resumed but in July the Luhanks Power Station is the only one that provides light to the norther Luhansk region. The station is now working in a critical mode as the deliveries of coal to the thermal power plant has stopped because of a blown bridge. Since September 2, the Luhanks Power Plant, is protected by the 80th Airborne Brigade and the “Aidar” Battalion of the Armed Forces.
