"Outnumbered tenfold": Russians gain foothold in Lysychansk, ford Siverskyi Donets – regional governor

Russian occupying forces entrenched themselves in Lysychansk, and finally managed to cross the Siverskyi Donets River to capture Bilohorivka in the fifth month of the war. Zolotarivka is already under the control of the Russians, announced the head of the Luhansk Oblast Military Administration, Serhiy Hayday.

According to him, even on the last day of the defense of Lysychansk under heavy fire, medics hospitalized the wounded, firefighters put out fires in the city, and the police recorded crimes.

"We held the line, even when it seemed impossible. the Russians prevailed tenfold. This horde destroyed the city and killed people," Hayday emphasized.

Many injured local residents were taken to hospitals in Dnipro, Lviv, and Ivano-Frankivsk. In the medical facilities of Donetsk Oblast, which are now also under threat, in recent weeks approximately 50 seriously injured Lysychansk residents are receiving or have already received help.

"Those who needed hospitalization were evacuated even on the last day of defense. Just as firefighters saved the city from flames when they were working on high-rise buildings," he added.

Hayday says that the Russian army gathered forces from all possible axes and concentrated them in Lysychansk. Their superiority in personnel was neutralized by the skill of Ukrainian fighters. However, the amount of long-range weapons necessary to push out the invaders has not yet arrived.
