One Ukrainian soldier died, another was injured after Russia-backed separatists in Donbas fired at a vehicle belonging to Ukraine's Armed Forces.
The incident, which took place at 3 p.m. Kyiv time near the Hranitne village in Ukraine's Donetsk region, was reported by Ukraine's Joint Forces Operation.
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, has reacted to it calling the shooting an "attempt to disrupt the Minsk process and to put the renewal of the Normandy format talks under risk."
"This audacious attack has clearly shown us who exactly doesn't want peace in the Donbas," the president was reported as saying by his press office.
Zelenskyy also ordered the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ruslan Khomchak, to "maximally step up the activity of the Armed Forces in terms of identifying and destroying sabotage groups."
