New Government Regulation Suggests Business As Usual In Ukraine

New Government Regulation Suggests Business As Usual In Ukraine

In October, the Ukrainian government introduced new airline regulation that would require any airline that serves the international market in Ukraine to also serve the domestic market. This law is a clearly discriminatory measure that clearly favors the largest airline in the Ukrainian market, which happens to be Ukrainian International Airlines, said Volodymyr Bilotkach, Co-Editor of Journal of Air Transport Management and a Senior Lecturer in Economics at Newcastle University.

Bilotkach joined two dozen academics, analysts, representatives of business and financial sectors all around the world who signed a statement last week condemning these new regulations and urging further public discussion about these regulations before they are enacted.

Hromadske International's Ian Bateson and Maxim Eristavi interviewed Volodymyr Bilotkach via Skype on Sunday, Nov. 30, 2014.
