New Ukrainian corvette and successes of the Armed Forces in de-occupation: last night's highlights

Ukrainian corvette Hetman Mazepa was launched in Turkey, and the Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to liberate settlements in Kharkiv and Kherson oblasts. Here is what you may have missed from the previous night.

New Ukrainian corvette

On October 2, the Ukrainian corvette Hetman Mazepa was launched in Turkey, which will be the first ship of this class for the Ukrainian Navy.

Back in 2020, Ukraine and Turkey signed an agreement to build two corvettes for Ukraine. "The construction of the Hetman Mazepa began in 2021. It was expected that this corvette will become part of the Navy in 2024, when it will be completed in Ukraine. It is not yet known what weapons are planned to be installed on the ship.

Liberation of territories continues

The Ukrainian military liberated the village of Torske, which is located between the liberated Lyman, Donetsk Oblast, and the occupied city of Kreminna, Luhansk Oblast.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces reported that some of the occupying troops encircled in the area of Lyman were physically destroyed or captured, another part managed to get out of the encirclement and is now trying to take up defense in Kreminna. At the same time, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are trying to hit them with artillery and prevent them from building a defense.

De-occupation of Kherson Oblast

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the Ukrainian military had achieved success not only in Lyman, Donetsk Oblast, but also in liberating other settlements. In particular, he confirmed that the Armed Forces of Ukraine had liberated the village of Arkhanhelske, Kherson Oblast.

The command reported that the Ukrainian military continue to conduct active combat operations on the southern front and have already partially succeeded in the north of the occupied territory.

Pentagon on the success of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said that Ukraine is making progress on the battlefield. According to him, there has been "a kind of change in the battlefield dynamics". The head of the Pentagon explained this by the skills of the Armed Forces soldiers and their strategic use of Western weapons, in particular HIMARS systems.

Grants for new business 

Since the beginning of July, the Cabinet of Ministers has approved 1,492 grants for new businesses under the eRobota project. It is expected that this will create more than 3,800 new jobs.

New victim of shelling in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast

A woman who suffered from shelling of Zelenodolsk community in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast on 29 September died in hospital. It is also known about 19 wounded from the attack. Then the Russians hit the bus stop with prohibited cluster munitions from Uragan systems.
