New Rules for Ukrainians Traveling to EU: Will €7 Fee Deter Ukrainians?

Two million Ukrainian citizens have made use of the visa—free regime with the EU since 2017. But come 2021, Ukrainians will be required to authorize with ETIAS for €7 and a validity period of 3 years. We asked Kyivans if this security measure will affect their travel behaviors.

Ukraine has been enjoying a visa-free regime with the European Union since 2017. More than 2 million Ukrainians have made use of this opportunity to travel around Europe. But come 2021, the EU will implement new rules for Ukrainians, and citizens of 61 other countries, for entering its territory. Travelers will be required to authorize with the European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) for the cost of 7 euros and a validity period of up to 3 years.
We asked Kyivans whether this security measure will affect their travel behaviors.
