New howitzers from Latvia

Another six M109 howitzers arrived in Ukraine from Latvia. Ukrainian servicemen are already using them at the front, Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov said.

"6 more M109 howitzers that have recently arrived in Ukraine from Latvia are already showing results on the battlefield. I‘m sincerely grateful to my Latvian colleague Artis Pabriks and the people of Latvia for their unwavering support," he wrote.

Successes of the Armed Forces in the south

Ukrainian defenders on the southern front destroyed 23 occupiers, a howitzer gun, seven units of armored and motor vehicles and a Russian ammunition supply point in Kherson region on August 15, reports Operational Command "South".

They added that the Ukrainian aviation hit two strongholds and two clusters of enemy weapons and equipment in the areas of Novopetrivka and Maksimivka, in Mykolaiv Oblast.

Shelling of Kharkiv

On the night of August 16, at 02:15 a.m, Russians shelled several districts of Kharkiv. According to preliminary information, they struck Shevchenkivskyi, Kyivskyi, Saltivskyi, Industrialnyi and Kholodnohirskyi districts.

"These are five of the nine districts of Kharkiv. Such a radius of impact of rockets on the city has not been seen for a long time. There is currently no information about the victims," ​​wrote city mayor Ihor Terekhov.

Also, on the night of August 16, the Russian occupying forces blasted the Kyivskyi district of Kharkiv with artillery fire.

Probable preparations for a missile strike

The monitoring group "Belarusian Hajun" believes that Russia is accumulating significant forces in Belarus for a massive missile attack on Ukraine in the coming weeks.

Rehabilitation in Latvia

In Latvia, on August 15, the program for the rehabilitation of seriously wounded Ukrainian soldiers, which is coordinated by the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was resumed.

12 Ukrainian servicemen will begin a three-week course of treatment to receive rehabilitation services and recover from severe injuries sustained while defending Ukraine at the Vaivari National Rehabilitation Center.

Demining of Chernihiv Oblast

The French government is ready to help Ukraine in demining the Chernihiv Oblast and will involve its specialists and equipment for this, announced regional governor Vyacheslav Chaus.
