Preliminary election results show former Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski's right wing VMRO-DPMNE in a slight lead over the opposition Social Democrats led by Zoran Zaev.

Nearly 1.8 million registered voters are eligible to choose 123 lawmakers for the single-chamber parliament in the election
