A controversial MP inside the coalition is better than one outside of the coalition - Mustafa Nayyem
28 November, 2014

It's better to have controversial MPs, such as Oleg Lyashko of the Radical Party, inside Ukraine's parliamentary coalition, rather than having them outside of the folds, said Mustafa Nayyem, an MP with the Poroshenko Bloc.

Mustafa Nayyem rose to the international spotlight during the EuroMaidan Protests that began last November. After President Viktor Yanukovych failed to sign an association agreement with the European Union, Nayyem wrote a Facebook post calling people to Maidan Square in Kyiv in protest. The protests grew exponentially in size and culminated with the ousting of Yanukovych from office.

Full disclosure: Nayyem was also one of the co-founders of Hromadske, but has maintained no editorial, or financial ties to the organization since entering politics.

Hromadske International Sunday Show co-hosts Ian Bateson and Nataliya Gumenyuk interviewed Mustafa Nayyem on Sunday, Nov. 23, 2014.
