“It’s not a big secret to most of us which are watching this and tracking this but I think the challenge that we face is that a broader general public which isn’t paying all that much attention,” Damon Wilson, vice-president of the Atlantic Council said of Russia’s direct intervention in Ukraine.

On 28 May, the Atlantic Council, a US-headquartered think-tank, released their report ‘Hiding in Plain Sight: Putin's War in Ukraine’ which has gathered evidence of specific incidents of Russian soldiers, cross border artillery strikes and the military equipment to demonstrate that this is a “Kremlin-manufactured conflict”.

“There would not be a conflict in Ukraine today if it hadn’t been for the efforts of Vladimir Putin,” said Wilson. According to him, the report aims to make that clear because you continue to see ambiguity in the international press about the nature of the war.

The report verified and analyzed information, largely from social media, to create stronger support among the public and decision makers for a clearer policy to deter Russia's aggression in Ukraine, said Wilson.
