Sartana is a small village, sitting on the edge of the hotly debated city of Mariupol, a strategic port which the separatists have repeatedly indicated they want. The Ukrainian military has heavily fortified the city, but the threat of attacks is ever imminent, especially in villages like Sartana, which was heavily shelled just a few weeks ago.

"The people in the areas that get shelled just need anything. They say they want this all to go away and live their lives" says Christian Borys.

Christian Borys, foreign correspondent with the Guardian, Macleans and Global Television spoke with Hromadske International Sunday Show co-hosts Ian Bateson and Nataliya Gumenyuk on September 6th, 2015.
