Katya Gorchinskaya was part of a team of journalists who found and collected approximately 25,000 documents from former President Viktor Yanukovych's estate, Mezhyhirya, after he fled from Ukraine to Russia. Many of the documents, which are open to the public on yanukovychleaks.org, show the massive scale of corruption Yanukovych fostered during his time in office.

While the ousted president is out of reach of Ukrainian prosecutors, many of his associates and beneficiaries of his corruption schemes have stayed in Ukraine. None of them have been imprisoned.

The leader of Yanukovych's now defunct political fraction, the Party of Regions, Oleksandr Yefremov, is currently on trial in Kyiv, and is on trial on charges of corruption. However, it is unlikely, that he will be brought to justice, said Gorchinskaya.

Hromadske International's Nataliya Gumenyuk and guest host Gulliver Cragg spoke with Katya Gorchinskaya on Feb. 22, 2015.
