Investigating the Attacks in Ankara, Turkey

Hromadske International's Ian Bateson spoke to Arzu Geybulla on October 11th, 2015.

What You Need To Know:

✅ Two suicide bombers attacked a pro Kurdish peace march in Ankara, Turkey;
✅ The attacks play a larger role in the context of Turkish influence and actions in Syria;
✅ Turkish people say they are tired of war, and tired of dying for the interests of one man, the Turkish President;
✅ Turkish population questions whether Turkey would ever shoot down a Russian jet trespassing into Turkish airspace.

Two anonymous security officers in Turkey told Reuters that the attacks were perpetrated by ISIS, but those statements are not verified, says Arzu Geybulla, a journalist based in Istanbul.
The brother of one of the suspected sucide bombers was responsible for the tragic Suruc bombings in Turkey.
People in Turkey were worried about the Russian incursions into Turkish airspace because it brought up the possibility that Turkey might actually take down a Russian jet. "Many people don't think Erdogan has the willingness to shoot down a Russian jet." says Geybulla.
