On January 24th, 2015 the strategic port town of Mariupol in Eastern Ukraine was shelled. Local witness reports suggest that the missiles fired from the separatist controlled territories.
According to the Mariupol authorities, 30 people died in the attack and 102 were injured, many of whom remain in a critical condition.
The missiles hit a civilian area and consequently caused severe damage to high-rise apartment buildings, houses, shops, markets as well as setting alight to several cars.
Some residents have left the area while others have had no choice but to continue living in damaged houses.
