East Ukraine: Life On The Separation Line
28 January, 2015

Only one third of the population of Tryokhizbenka in Eastern Ukraine has decided to stay. Those who remain are the elderly and the most vulnerable. Nevertheless, they say that will not leave their land.

There was no electricity when Hromadske journalists visited the village accompanied by forces from Civil-Military Cooperation, a division of the Ukrainian army which carries out peacekeeping tasks.

It remains one of the hottest spots of the war in Eastern Ukraine and the villagers try not to leave their cellars unless they have to. Hromadkse journalists managed not only to record the consequences of this awful war, but also to talk to local people about their how they are coping.
