A Divide Is Growing Between Eastern and Western Europe, Journalist Warns

Carl Henrik Fredriksson, Editor in Chief, Eurozine belies that "this is a crisis in the EU which is much bigger than the Greek Crisis because what seemed to be overcome, the divide between East and West, is back with full force."

Mr. Fredriksson admits that the Eastern countries, which have called for solidarity and been shown solidarity for a long time are now breaking that solidarity.

"This has been a real shock for Western European countries. The complete lack of solidarity." says Fredriksson. Adding onto this line of thinking, he says that "oo be honest, I think the Shengen agreement is withering and I really think that this is the start of a real divide in Europe."

This growing divide, in his opinion, is bad for Ukraine because Ukraine belongs to the East.
