What It's Like To Get Trapped Inside Devastating Debaltseve Battle In East Ukraine

On 28 January 2015, Hromadske journalist Nastya Stanko visited the eastern Ukrainian town of Debaltseve where the humanitarian situation has reached crisis point.
Since pro-Russian separatist commander Alexander Zakharchenko announced his intention to "encircle Debaltseve" on 24 January, the town has experienced extremely heavy shelling. Like the port town of Mariupol, Debaltseve is a strategic rail and road junction and therefore valuable to both sides.
Its residents have been almost completely cut off from the outside world with no gas, water or electricity. Those who are left are trapped and are desperate for an end to the fighting.
