Avdiivka On The Frontline
2 August, 2016

What You Need To Know:

The Minsk agreements are not executed

✅ Fighting takes place in the industrial zone of Avdiivka every night

✅ On July 6th, two soldiers died as a consequence of the shelling

Despite the Minsk agreements, shelling in Donbas continues. In the industrial zone of Avdiivka, fighting takes place every night. The floor covered with the aggressor’s shell casings is a direct evidence of cease-fire violations.

Hromadske journalists Nastya Stanko and Kostiantyn Revytskiy came to Avdiivka to film what the situation in eastern Ukraine looks like. Soldiers of the 81st Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are positioned there. They stay strong and don’t even want to go to the hospital to recover from the effects of war. And they are positive: they are constantly smiling and joking about wounds and enemies.

Hromadske journalists met captain Yuriy Ivanovych («Biker»), who takes care of his guys and makes them call their mothers. They spoke to Volodya («Kaban»), who refuses to go to the hospital because of the lack of people on the frontline. The 22-year-old combat medic is joking about his condition and says he can still take his position.

A few hours later, Volodya and Oleh go to their positions. A couple of minutes later, their blindage is hit by a mortar bomb. Oleh dies on the spot and Volodya dies in the hospital.

July 6, Avdiivka. Watch the real war.
