400,000 People Lose Water Access in Eastern Ukraine

400 thousand people in Donbas are left without water after shelling damaged the water supply station.

The head of the Donetsk Military and Civil Administration, Pavlo Zhebrivskiy, announced this, as reported “Interfax-Ukraine”.

According to him, residents of Pokrovsk, Myrnohrad, Volnovakha and Dobropillia are among those without water.

“Now, together with the State Emergency Services of Ukraine, we are organising the delivery of drinking and industrial water. If we have learnt and clearly understood anything from Avdiivka, it’s the fact we now have a timetabled formula, because we have a large area here, and a lot of people – around 400 thousand people have been left without water - so it’s quite difficult to do everything in half a day but we will definitely do it, ” the head of the Donetsk Military and Civil Administration, Pavlo Zhebrivskiy, told the TV channel, “112 Ukraine”.

According to him, the problem is that the damaged water pumping station is close to where the fighters are positioned and the transformer and the battery are now damaged.

“Unfortunately, we can only work with the teams there,” the head of the Donetsk Military and Civil Administration also said.

He noted that, in order for the repair work to start, it is essential that the OSCE observers are present and uphold the peace.

It was previously reported that five districts in the Donetsk region and 388 thousand people were left without their central water supply as a result of shellings.
