“It’s a hybrid ceasefire, which has left a lot of people dead and injured,” says Pat Cox, former President of the European Parliament on the failure of one of the key measures of the Minsk II agreement. Cox, who was in Kyiv for the 'Yalta European Strategy' Annual Meeting says that this year has been disappointing for the protocol, which was renewed on February 11th, 2015.
“Most days people are injured and on unhappy days people are killed.”
He is hopeful that the agreement will be revived yet again after the German and French Foreign Ministers Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Jean-Marc Ayrault complete their visit in Ukraine’s war-torn east.
